What is squash?
Squash is a sport played with rackets and rubber balls similar to those used in tennis, in a room designed for this purpose. Usually played by two players, but in doubles matches there are four players on the court.
The match consists of 2 or 3 games won (“best of” 3 or 5).
Each game is played until 11 points are scored. The player who reaches 11 points first wins,
unless both players have 10 points. In this case, the game continues until then,
until one player wins it by 2 points.
Both players can score points by winning the ball game (PAR – Point-a-Rally). If
the dealer wins a rally, he wins a point and continues serving. If the receiver wins
wins a rally, he wins a point and takes over the serve.
The two main rules of racquetball are “LET” and “STROKE”. LET is the replay of a given rally, and STROKE is the situation where a player wins a rally because his opponent has interfered or prevented him from returning the ball. For the full rules of the game, click here.
